Close to Om with Andrea Marcum is a weekend immersion to start where you are and stretch to your full potential –body, mind and spirit.
Saturday August 10th
Time 10h30 – 12h30
Our first class Awaken & Transform uses simple yoga poses alongside concepts from Andrea’s book Close to Om, to help you find the space to transform limitation into possibility. In yoga philosophy this is called pratipaksha bhavana. During this vinyasa-flow practice appropriate for all levels of experience, you’re introduced to Andrea’s signature tools to transform obstacles into opportunities. STOP to START, Stuckat List, and Possibility Pose.
Sunday August 11th
Time 10h30 – 18h00
In our second class Unite, we experience how yoga means connection – first within our selves and then towards everyone and everything around us. Yoga encourages us to turn inward, ultimately so that we can reach out. This vinyasa-flow style practice offers modifications for all skill levels as well as opportunities for arm balances and inversions for those so inclined. It will include a juicy restorative finish with meditation.
Think of your weekend odyssey as an archeological dig to discover the hidden treasures that already exist within you but which have become buried underneath obstacles you might not yet be able to see.
You’ll emerge untangled, with a new perspective. Your friends will want to know what your secret is, and you’ll know you’ve found your OM.
Warning: this program includes laughter, sweat, playful fun, relaxation and inspiration.
Andrea’s combination of a challenging class, and a great sense of humor are unique, intelligent, and always leave me feeling better when I leave than when I arrived. She is an amazing teacher and I love her class. — Heather Graham, actress
Andrea Marcum has been teaching yoga for nearly two decades. She founded U Studio Yoga in Los Angeles in 2006 and ran it for nine years (that’s about 100 years anywhere else). Then when yoga stretched her out into the world to teach international workshops, retreats and festivals she traded in brick and mortar for frequent flier miles, closed her studio and began teaching at Yogaworks.
Known for weaving accessible philosophy into the poses, Andrea loves leading the most unassuming newbies to yoga and mindfulness and works with everyone from athletes to executives.
Shape, NFL Network, Los Angeles Times, Huff Post, Qantas Inflight, Self, and C Magazine have featured her. Oh, and she’s been called a Rock Star & one of The Best 8 Yoga Teachers in LA.
Andrea believes our yoga mats are magic carpets to look into our lives and to see the world.
