Anāhata अनाहत
Anāhata means “unbeaten”, a sound that is created other than by an action, other than by striking.
The self-existent sound. The sound and vibration of existence. Anāhata is also the name of the 4th chakra, the heart chakra. Although the name of the chakra means “unbeaten”, the heart beats. A heart beats and it can be wounded.
And yet, there is also a level where a heart is unbeaten and unwounded, in its eternal essence. Not what life causes you, but the untouchable essence that can be a source of strength when you connect with it.
The practice of Anāhata is listening to the flow of life, listening to the rushing sounds of water, springs, rain, streams, rivers, oceans and winds, listening to the whispers and rushes of the outside world.
Find the sounds that soothe your heart and in the same way, listen within. The awareness of the rush of blood vessels, the whole wonder of existence in that sound, but also the rush of prana, of energy, the flow of life, the song of your life, the melody and vibration of you, the journey of this life.
Listen to it while meditating and connect with this, your inner sound, a sound without beginning and end.
