Focus of the Week

Is it the world that is upside down, or will it be you? ?
Inversions

Inverted postures are still fearful postures for many practitioners. Yet it is precisely the āsanas that cause us fear that should make us curious.
Perhaps the greatest effect on our system and our consciousness lies hidden in this overcoming. All āsanas in which the head is below the heart are called inverted postures.

Headstand, Handstand, Forearmstand and Shoulderstand are the wellknown inverted postures, there are also gentler and more accessible variations such as Downward Dog, Standing Forward Folds, Legs up the Wall and even Happy Baby are wonderful postures in this direction.

The blood flow in inversions is increased, our energy is elevated and we gain strength and a higher self-confidence as a result. The stimulation of the entire cranium, the increased blood flow to the brain leads to physical strengthening and mental revitalisation.

Gravity is used to supply the brain with more oxygen and blood, improving mental functions, including concentration, memory and processability.
Certainly, shoulders and arms should be strengthened enough for this, but what matters even more is a good body tension and the will to see everything from an other perspective.

Inverted postures are the ideal whole-body toners. The ability and willingness to take a different perspective lies in the inversions. And so these postures enrich our being.

Inversions bring back our inner child and remind us that while yoga is in many ways a contemplative exercise, asana practice is also a time to be playful and lighthearted!

Our team supports you with encouragement and guidance of the right technique on your way into the inversion posture.
